Tripod Fertility has welcomed occupational therapy students from The University of Toronto to provide a complimentary wellness workshop series for pre/post-natal patients to learn about wellness, stress management, and self-care.

Fatigue Management Part 2: Sleep Hygiene & Relaxation Techniques

- This session will explore ways to establish a healthy bedtime routine and ways to modify your bedroom environment to promote sleep. Relaxation techniques will be experimented with to help individuals find strategies that enable them fall and stay asleep.

Pain Management: Joint Protection Strategies & Ergonomics

- This session will focus on joint protection strategies for individuals prenatal and postpartum. We will discuss pain - what is hurt vs. harm?, how to balance activity and rest while exploring strategies such as using larger/stronger joints when engaging in activities. We will explore physical aspects of ergonomics for the whole body while focusing on common experiences such as "mother's thumb".

Stress Management: Mindfulness & Coping Strategies

- Stress is a normal reaction that manifests in the body when changes occur. Developing coping strategies can help you deal with changes in a healthier way. During this session we will engage in a discussion about how to shift from being "mind full" to "mindful".

Establishing Healthy Routines: Self-Care

- Our activities of daily living (ADLs) structure our days. Often times we become focused on productive activities such as work and caring for others and neglect to care for ourselves. However, to take care of others we must first take care of ourselves. This session will focus on creating healthy routines that integrate self-care.
