IVF & Fertility Treatments

Together, let’s find your best path to parenthood.
Your story is unique, and so is your journey to building a family. Fertility options vary in terms of cost, time, and success rates, but whether it’s natural conception, or advanced reproductive treatment, our team is here to create a plan that is centered around you.

Questions about IVF at Tripod
How much does IVF cost, and what’s included?
A stimulated IVF cycle at Tripod is $11,495. That includes your cycle monitoring bloodwork and ultrasound visits, IV sedation with a registered nurse, your egg retrieval, standard IVF fertilization, extended blastocyst culture, time-lapse incubation, a fresh embryo transfer, embryo freezing and your first year of embryo storage. Medication is extra, usually $5,000 to $8,000 depending on your protocol and how your body responds. A natural IVF cycle is $6,500, with medication usually $600 to $1,000. Some patients need additional services such as ICSI ($2,000), pre-implantation genetic testing of embryos ($2,500 and up) or IV deep sedation with an anesthetist ($400). If you’re eligible, one IVF cycle can be funded through the Ontario Fertility Program. See our Pricing page for every fee, and our Funding page for who qualifies.
How long does an IVF cycle take?
In the month before your cycle, you’ll meet our nursing team to learn about the process and how to take your medications. Your cycle starts on the first day of your period. For the next 10 to 14 days, you’ll take injectable medications and come in for 3 to 6 morning monitoring appointments. Your egg retrieval takes 15 to 30 minutes, and your embryos are cultured/grown in our lab for 5 to 7 days. A fresh embryo can be transferred 3 to 6 days after the egg retrieval, or your embryos can be frozen for a later transfer. From the start of your cycle, it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks, and we can do a pregnancy blood test 12 to 14 days after your transfer.
Should I start with IUI or IVF?
It depends on your history and test results, and your specialist will talk it through with you. IUI is less invasive and costs less ($1,200 per cycle), and it’s often a good place to start if you have unexplained infertility, are using a sperm donor, or your partner has a low sperm count. It also has lower success rates than IVF. IVF involves more steps, and it is the most well-established, effective fertility treatment.
What happens at my first consultation?
You’ll meet one of our fertility specialists to talk about your health, your history and your family building goals. Next comes testing, usually a blood test and an ultrasound, or a semen analysis. Then you’ll meet with your doctor to review the results and plan your next step. Physician consultations are covered by OHIP. AMH testing is $125.
Do I need a referral?
You can refer yourself using the form on our website, and our team will be in touch to book your first appointment. Physicians can also refer patients through our Physician Referrals page or through OCEANMD referrals.
How should I read clinic success rates?
Success rates can be reported in different ways, which makes them hard to compare. When you look at a figure, ask whether it is per cycle started, per egg retrieval or per embryo transfer, which age group it covers, and whether it includes frozen transfers. Your own chances depend on your age, your test results and your history, so the most useful conversation is the one you have with your specialist about your own situation.
